Streszczenie
W artykule przedstawiono tworzenie się i rozwój rehabilitacji zawodowej osób z niepełnosprawnościami
na świecie w XX i XXI w. Można zauważyć, iż bodźcem do powstania
systemów krajowych, szczególnie w Ameryce oraz Europie, były konflikty zbrojne.
W ich efekcie pojawiała się liczna grupa osób okaleczonych – ofiar wojen oraz praktyk
ludobójczych. Wiele państw musiało sobie poradzić z tym problemem, szczególnie
z biernością zawodową osób z niepełnosprawnościami. Poszukiwano efektywnych
rozwiązań w tej sferze. Doprowadziło to do powstania licznych systemów krajowych,
których kształt wynikał z kultury, tradycji, historii, zasobów oraz możliwości społecznych
i ekonomicznych danego państwa.

Professional rehabilitation and employment of people with disabilities in
the twentieth and twenty-first century
Summary
The paper presents the formation and development of professional rehabilitation of
people with disabilities in the world in the twentieth and twenty-first century. One
may notice that these were armed conflicts that stimulated creation of national systems,
particularly in America and Europe. As a result, a large group of injured people
appeared – the victims of war and genocide. Many countries have had to cope with this
problem, especially with inactivity of people with disabilities. They were looking for
a good solution in this area. This has resulted in creation of many national systems,
the shape of which resulted from the culture, traditions, history, resources, and social
and economic opportunities of the country.
